Common name: Limestone wheatgrass

Limestone wheatgrass is a low statured grass with a narrow, compact head and is endemic to Nelson/Marlborough. Its habitat is restricted to dry limestone outcrops.
It is threatened by weed encroachment, especially by introduced grasses, by the grazing by stock. Its small population size makes it susceptible to catastrophic events.
