Fraxinus chinensis is a flowering tree in the genus of the olive and lilac family, Oleaceae. It is native to Far East Russia, China, Korea Thailand and Vietnam. It has been introduced to New Zealand and can be seen growing in private and public gardens.
Fraxinus chinensis is a deciduous tree growing to 25 m in height. 
The species are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and the flowers are pollinated by the wind. The flowers which have no petals, open with the leaves.
Fraxinus chinensis bark and leaves are used in traditional Chinese medicine
