Galerina patagonica is one of the more common and easily recognised Galerina species of fungus because of a papilla (nipple-like structure) in the centre of the cap.
It has a Gondwanan distribution, and is found in Australia, New Zealand, and Patagonia (South America), where it grows on rotting wood in native forests,
It grows up to 60 mm in height. The cap has a width of 25-35mm, the spores are brown and it appears during autumn.
