Family: Plantaginaceae
Genus: Hebe
Hybrid: Hebe ‘Margret’
The cultivar Hebe 'Margret' is a dwarf, evergreen shrub with a rounded, compact habit of about 30–45 cm high, and more across. The small lance-shaped bright shiny green leaves are 1.2–1.4 cm long. In mid-summer to early autumn it has a profusion of long-lived spikes of lilac-blue flowers that fade to white.
It was raised at the Rocklands Nursery, North Yorkshire and named after Margret Potter, one of its owners. It is possibly a cross between Hebe ‘Mauve Queen’ and Hebe ‘Youngii’ which is often erroneously called Hebe ‘Margaret’.
